The Excelon KFC-XW1000F is an all new, very impressive subwoofer from Kenwood. This ultra-low clearance woofer features a slim 4" mounting depth, and is the perfect solution for space-challenged vehicles like regular cab pickups, or for those who want to maximize their bass without sacrificing trunk space. A carbon honeycomb composite cone and high-roll butyl rubber surround move massive amounts of air without flinching while belting out the deepest frequencies. The superior strength and ultra-low mass properties of carbon fiber allow this woofer to move extremely fast and transition from low to high frequencies without the flex of lesser cone materials. Kenwood's Smooth Linear Surround is beefed up in the joint area between the cone and surround to help eliminate separation failure, and helps suppress surround resonance to minimize distortion.
Kenwood gave the KFC-XW1000F a super-slim aluminum die-cast basket that acts as a heat transfer system, featuring multiple vents to keep the voice coil within operating temperatures make sure this bad boy's as cool as a fan during the heaviest of jam sessions. The super linear spider offers more control over the cone and reduces overall stress. This means less failure due to high excursion and a more efficient design that maintains consistent performance from peak to peak. In order to effectively transfer massive loads of power, Kenwood included silver-plated 8 gauge push terminals.
